We start with a market idea that can be explained and translated into auditable rules. Optimisation may refine that logic, but it should not become the reason the strategy appears to work.
Each system is reviewed under changing data, trade sequences and execution costs. We avoid martingale, unlimited grids and loss-averaging mechanisms that can hide growing exposure behind a smooth backtest.
Robustness before perfection
We prefer plausible behaviour across adverse scenarios to an immaculate historical curve.

Spread, slippage, position sizing and broker differences are part of the system.
Validation process
We try to break the strategy
before trusting it.
Backtests are evidence, not forecasts. We separate in-sample and out-of-sample periods, then examine the system with Monte Carlo, execution-friction and walk-forward tests when the evidence is available.
